Olivier Giroud has added another wonder goal to his impressive collection…
Olivier Giroud netted a stunning winner in Belgrade as Arsenal showed real “cojones” in what was a very hostile atmosphere to put us in a commanding position in our Europa League group.
The hosts had some credible chances early on, and much of the credit for this victory must go to Petr Cech who made some important stops in the early exchanges.
Our chances throughout the game were few and far between and it seemed the game was destined for a bore draw before Giroud had his say on proceedings.
Much like his scorpion strike against Crystal Palace, the build-up to the goal was as impressive as the finish with Jack Wilshere showing his mesmeric close control as he opened up the Serbian side.
After a clever one-two with Theo Walcott, Giroud somehow hooked the ball over his right shoulder and into the top corner to send the travelling fans wild.
With only days remaining until the Frenchman finds out if he wins the FIFA Puskas award for that goal against Palace 12 months ago, this strike will certainly help his cause.
The win now almost guarantees our path into the last 32 of the competition and with two of our last three games at home, we should be aiming for a 100% record coming out of the group.
