Ozil’s contract update…
Arsene Wenger has been updating the public on the contract situations of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez with the boss revealing that their futures are in no way tied to his contractual situation.
Wenger’s current contract expires in June and the Frenchman has made it clear that he’ll wait to see how the season unfolds before making a decision on if he’d like to carry on.
Given that he played an integral role in luring Alexis and Ozil to north London, it has been speculated this week that the two are waiting for Wenger to commit before they do (via Goal.com).
However, Wenger dismissed that notion in his pre-match press conference ahead of our clash against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
“No, I wouldn’t say that,” Wenger replied when asked if our superstar duo’s futures are linked to his.
“They are happy at the club and I want them to commit to the club because they believe they’re in the right place.”
Having come so far in the last few years and finally built a squad capable of going toe-to-toe with Europe’s best, we can’t afford to lose any of our key players.
