Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has vouched for Gunners starlet Folarin Balogun as the young striker continues to impress in our U18s side.

Balogun, who told Arsenal.com that he models much of his playing style on our No.14, has netted 22 goals in 23 games this season as he looks to win the title for the academy side.

A player of blistering speed and enviable close-control, Balogun has all the fundamentals to reach the top of the game and Aubameyang certainly likes what he’s seen of him.

The England U-18s international has a choice to make once he develops into a bonafide full international, with the striker able to represent three national teams.

Born to Nigerian parents, Balogun can follow in the footsteps of Alex Iwobi and choose to put on the infamous green shirt of the Super Eagles.

Balogun revealed that his country of birth is actually the USA, and flying the flag for America is also an option.

However, he currently represents England at a number of youth levels and sees no reason to switch allegiances.

Speaking on his playing style and the privilege of watching Aubaemayng up close, Balogun said: “I am the sort of striker that likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and make runs behind them, similar to the way that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plays,” the young marksman said.

“I’ve trained a few times with the first team and I feel that I’ve benefitted from being involved with them.”

Upon hearing Balogun’s quotes, Aubameyang took to his social media to let fans know that he’s seen the teenager at work and definitely likes what he sees.

I can’t seem to remember a time when fans have been this excited about a number of sensational prospects coming through the ranks.

Bukayo Saka, Xavier Amaechi and Zech Medley have all made impressions and look to form the nucleus of our future.
