Preston 1-2 Arsenal…
Arsenal’s stand-in captain on the day Olivier Giroud launched a rallying cry at half-time in the tunnel which lead to a second-half comeback against Preston North End in the FA Cup.
After a disastrous opening 45 minutes at Deepdale, we were lucky to head into the break with the deficit as it was given the number of clear chances the hosts missed.
We looked a different team in the second-half and it was evident even before the referee blew his whistle as the players were out on the pitch incredibly early.
Courtesy of the FA’s YouTube channel, we’re able to see what took place in the tunnel as the players were coming out for the second half.
Giroud can be heard addressing the rest of the team by saying: “Show some character, show something else!”
Given that the Frenchman eventually conjured up the winner minutes from time, Arsene Wenger was certainly justified in naming him as the skipper on the day.
