Reiss Nelson completed a deadline day move to Fulham…

Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson has detailed the stressful events on the final day of the transfer as he looked to secure a loan move away.

Nelson eventually joined Fulham on a season-long loan in a dramatic turn of events with Ipswich Town previously reported as his likely destination.

At the start of play last Friday, a move didn’t look on the cards for Nelson with the club also briefing that our incoming business was done.

However, with just a few hours left before the window slammed shut, noise started to permeate that Nelson was being eyed by a number of Premier League clubs regarding a loan move.

Arsenal were then simultaneously linked with a sensational move for Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling as the club continued its one-in-one-out policy.

Now, having completed his move across London, Nelson narrated how erratic those events were.

“Deadline day was a lot of waiting around,” the 24-year-old told FFC TV.

“My brother is my agent so it was a bit easier because he lives around the corner from me.

“I was just waiting at his house and all of my family were there as well. It was a bit up and down, we didn’t really know what was going on, but I think I made the right decision in the end.”

Nelson joins a squad with a number of familiar faces as he reunites with the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Alex Iwobi and Bernd Leno.

Staying in London will also aid the winger’s adaptation and with Marco Silva relying on Adama Traore to provide pace on the flanks, Nelson can bank on getting many minutes.

“I spoke with the boss and he convinced me about the project. It was something I couldn’t turn down,” Nelson continued.

“The boss likes to play out from the back. He likes inverted wingers that can play with either foot and combine with the striker. I think that complements where I want to play.”
