Arsenal prodigy Reiss Nelson has revealed that Thierry Henry left him with some wise words when the Gunners icon spent a brief period coaching our U18 side, The Telegraph reports.

Nelson, who’s experienced an eventful season at Hoffenheim in which he’s had highs and lows, stated that Henry’s words of wisdom have always kept him grounded.

The 19-year-old netted six times in his first 10 Bundesliga appearances, showing fans across Europe that he was ready to deliver on his early promise.

However, since then, the goals have dried up and his inclusion in the squad has been rather sporadic.

A recent exile from the squad was labelled as a learning experience by Julian Nagelsmann – which Nelson later revealed was due to him turning up late for training.

Despite that small hiccup, Nelson stated that Henry’s words still ring in his ears.

“His main thing was staying grounded,” the England U21 international said about Henry’s advice.

“A lot of kids, when they get to 18 or 19, they start getting flashy and forgetting about the real basics of being a professional footballer. He has always said ‘be on that and you’ll go to the top.’”

Nelson recently revealed that his undergoing weight training in Germany to build on his explosiveness and it certainly showed during England’s U21 clash against Poland last month.

We seriously lack pace out wide and while Unai Emery has a chance to add to the squad in the summer, Nelson will have a big part to play next season.
