Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson is set for a period on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury which explains his omission from the squad that faced Bournemouth, The Evening Standard reports.

Nelson’s last appearance came in our 4-0 thrashing of Standard Liege in the Europa League last week where he was substituted in the final minutes for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 19-year-old put in a decent performance as he bagged an assist for one of Garbiel Martinelli’s goals, though he’s struggled to replicate that form in the league.

Nelson started our opening two games against Newcastle United and Burnley respectively but was dragged off at half-time in the latter match and hasn’t started in the league since.

Aidy Boothroyd included Nelson in the squad to face Slovenia and Austria during the international break, but the academy graduate withdrew from the squad this week.

According to the report, Nelson is set to be out until November with a knee injury which he seemingly picked up last week. It’s also suggested that there is no serious damage to the knee which should hopefully see the youngster return to full training in the near future.

Bukayo Saka has since taken the initiative to fill the gap in the left-wing position and has performed admirably, while the energetic Martinelli also lies in wait.
