New AC Milan chief Ivan Gazidis looking to take a trip down memory lane as he looks for a new head coach…
AC Milan are in talks with former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger as they look to replace Gennaro Gattuso, just months after they appointed Ivan Gazidis as their new chief executive, France Football reports.
Wenger made it clear that he’d be returning to management in early 2019, though he claimed that he didn’t know exactly where he’d land.
If the report is to be believed, it seems the Frenchman’s infamous smirk during the interview indicated that he was well aware this story would break.
AC Milan recently hired our chief executive Gazidis, who formally begins his role in December, which would make a reunion between the two rather odd.
Many had speculated that Gazidis was instrumental in Wenger’s exit and that they weren’t necessarily on the best of terms behind the scenes.
However, with the Italian giants set to embark on a similar journey, we did following our stadium move in 2006, Gazidis may feel he knows exactly the right man for the job.
Milan are looking to move out of the San Siro and into a new stadium, while hoping to re-establish themselves as a Champions League team.
It would be interesting to see how Wenger does in Serie A, and whether or not he still has another big job in him at the age of 68.
