Fulham Football Club approached Arsene Wenger about their vacant manager’s position following the sacking of Slavisa Jokanovic, though the Frenchman declined their advances, The Telegraph reports.

The newly-promoted side decided to bite the bullet in terms of Jokanovic with the west London side bottom of the table and conceding goals at a canter.

After being rebuffed by Wenger, Fulham turned to a former Premier League-winning manager in Claudio Ranieri who knows how to solidify a defence.

Wenger has been vocal about his eagerness to get back into management, yet he’s also been firm in his principles that he’ll never manage another English club due to his emotional ties.

The 68-year-old stepped away from the club following 22-years in the hot seat and while his final few weeks was designed to give him a great send off, we declined as a club under his tutelage.

His departure was long overdue and while he should’ve gone sooner, it’s now apparent that we needed to have the structure above the manager in place before making that change.

It remains to be seen if Wenger is finished as a manager, or if he needed a change as much as we did. He recently confirmed that he would return to club management in 2019.

For the Frenchman to have a final hoorah, one would imagine that he’s looking at one of the elite clubs as the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich look for new head coaches.

I for one would’ve liked to see him return in the Premier League with a different challenge.
