Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has laid into Mesut Ozil’s critics after appearing on Copa 90’s latest Fifa and Chill episode.

Ferdinand, arguably the most technically gifted central defender England has ever produced, is clearly an advocate of players who let their feet do the talking instead of charging around the pitch with little direction.

Copa 90 presenter Vujanic put to Ferdinand that Ozil isn’t “really a hard worker”, a statement which made Ferdinand significantly irate.

“He’s not a hard worker? What is that?” Ferdinand said while raising his voice slightly.

“I can’t deal with this type of talk.”

Ferdinand questioned the presenter on why he’s focusing so much on what Ozil is doing without the ball, but choosing to ignore that Ozil has registered more assist than any player in Europe’s top five leagues over the past five years.

Check out their interesting exchange in the clip above which starts at the 08:40 mark of the video.
