Santi Cazorla heaped praise on Laurent Koscielny after his man-mountain display against Southampton on Saturday in our 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

Cazorla slotted home an injury-time penalty, but it was Koscielny who got us back into the game with a wonderful overhead kick in the first-half.

In the build up to the penalty, the Arsenal man also took a nasty whack in the face, but returned to the field to head a few balls clear as we defended our lead.

“He’s an amazing player,” Cazorla told Arsenal Player.

“For me, he is one of the best defenders in the world. We are lucky that he plays for Arsenal.”

Koscielny is certainly an early candidate for player of the season so far and looks like the armband has given him an added level.
