Arsenal duo Sead Kolasinac and Mesut Ozil experienced a frightening ordeal…
Arsenal duo Sead Kolasinac and Mesut Ozil were attacked by knife-wielding robbers on mopeds in London on Thursday afternoon in a shocking ordeal, MailOnline reports.
The incident happened on Golders Green Road, an area Ozil frequents given the popular Turkish restaurant that he likes to dine at called ‘Likya’.
CCTV video leaked online of what now seems like the early part of the attack, as Kolasinac is seen jumping out of the vehicle to back the two assailants off.
It’s clear to see from the footage that at least one of the men was armed with a very large knife, something which is very concerning in terms of the safety of our players.
According to MailOnline, Ozil later abandoned his car and ran into the restaurant with the robbers in close proximity, which led to waiters and chefs chasing the attackers away.
An image released by the publication shows Ozil and is wife being questioned by police outside the restaurant and the German’s vehicle is parked in front of the establishment.
Following the reports, an Arsenal spokesperson released the subsequent statement to the press: “We have been in contact with both players and they are fine.”
Given that the players only returned yesterday from their pre-season tour of America, to be confronted with this ordeal so soon after must’ve shaken Ozil up.
We’re very thankful both players are physically fine and hopefully Ozil – who was said to be in some emotional distress – can recover fully mentally.
