Everton defender Seamus Coleman revealed his ultimate five-a-side team from players he’s played alongside and the Irishman picked former Arsenal skipper Mikel Arteta.
Coleman, a product of Everton’s credible academy, watched on as Arteta dominated for years while the right-back moved up the ranks to establish himself as a first-team regular.
Arteta would later join us at arguably the most sensitive period in the club’s history, and his calming influence can not be underestimated.
“He was pulling strings for Everton week in, week out,” Coleman stated when expanding on why Arteta made his team.
“He got a bad injury away to Newcastle but before that he was an unbelievable player to watch. I’m very lucky to have played with him.”
Few can deny that Arteta spent his peak years at Everton, though the Spaniard adequately transformed himself into a decent deep-lying playmaker.
The boy from the Basque region will forever be known as the skipper who pushed us towards ending that dreaded nine-year trophy drought.
