Serge Gnabry still has love for his former club…

Former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry revealed that he still looks out for Arsenal’s games when he can, and stated that his former club still holds a place in his heart, he told Prime Video Germany.

Gnabry, a former Hale End product, left the club in 2016 to join Werder Bremen for a fee in the region of €4million following an underwhelming loan spell at West Bromwich Albion.

The German international only spent 12 months at Bremen before joining German giants Bayern Munich where his career took off and the 26-year-old started realising his undoubted potential.

Arsene Wenger has always maintained that he felt something fishy happened behind the scenes, manufactured by Bayern, which saw the Gnabry ultimately end up there without a huge financial outlay.

Despite the fact that his Gunners career didn’t go as planned, Gnabry still holds Arsenal in high regard.

“I watch the games when I can, of course,” Gnabry said when asked if he still keeps an eye on Arsenal’s Premier League campaign.

“I still have a little bit of them in my heart.

“Of course, I’m happy when Arsenal play well and when they win – they are now on the rise again,” Gnabry added.

Gnabry has always felt like the one that got away to the Gunners faithful given his huge potential, and some do wonder if they’ll ever be a return to north London for the forward.

The Bayern star is currently in the midst of some turbulent contract negotiations with his current deal expiring in just over a year, with recent reports suggesting Gnabry and the Bundesliga champions are far apart in terms of reaching a deal (via Sky Sport).

Mikel Arteta has always been a fan of Gnabry having shared a dressing room with him as he made his way into the Arsenal first-team, and one speculates if that’s a move the Spaniard will explore as he looks to bolster our forward options next summer.
