Cesc Fabregas plays down loss of FA Cup final…

If there’s one thing Arsenal fans know about Cesc Fabregas, it’s that he isn’t so good at losing and the Spaniard displayed those traits after we defeated Chelsea to clinch the FA Cup.

Fabregas, one of a few Chelsea players to speak to the press in the mixed zone, accepted that we were by far the better side throughout the game – despite objecting to our opening goal.

Alexis Sanchez raced through to give us the lead inside five minutes, though it certainly looked like he played the ball with his hand to set himself up.

The linesman initially put his flag up for offside given Aaron Ramsey’s position, but he left the ball for Alexis to strike home which made the goal legal in referee Anthony Taylor’s eyes.

“It’s a terrible decision, of course, it’s a handball and offside,” Fabregas said about the goal.

“But let’s not take credit away from Arsenal because even with this bad decision they were better than us.

“We go home with a bad taste because of what happened today, but for sure we prefer to win the Premier League than the FA Cup,” Cesc added.

Putting the two trophies in direct competition makes it seem like the Spaniard was comparing the successes of both teams, a rather silly comparison with many fully aware that the title is the crowning trophy.

However, we stopped Chelsea from clinching a famous double while we secured our position as the most successful team in FA Cup history.
