Reliable Spanish reporter Kike Marin has provided some interesting updates regarding our reported moves for La Liga duo Lucas Vazquez and Malcom.

Following the rejected bid for Wilfried Zaha, it’s clear to see that the club wants to add a wide player to the squad this summer and that has led to some intense speculation.

While several reports emanating from Spain claim that Vazquez to Arsenal is imminent, Marin has quashed those rumours and stated that there is zero interest in the Real Madrid man on our behalf.

That update was quite a relief considering the reported fee of €35m which was being mentioned. Vazquez is a talented winger, but he’s from what we need and we could put that sort of money to better use.

However, in terms of alternatives to Zaha, Marin claims that we are indeed interested in Barcelona winger Malcom on an initial loan deal if the Spanish giants look to move him on.

The La Liga champions are linked with a sensational move to bring Neymar back to the Nou Camp, a move which would require Barcelona to do some shifting.

The Catalan giants are currently at capacity in terms of their non-EU quota of players and would, therefore, need to move on one of their South American stars to make room for Neymar.

We have been interested in Malcom in the past and there were talks of an expected arrival in the January window of 2018 as we looked for Alexis Sanchez replacements.

Raul Sanllehi’s links at Barcelona make a move even more realistic and Malcom is one who’d definitely strengthen our squad. At the age of 22, the former Bordeaux star could still grow to fulfil his initial potential.
