Stan Collymore seems to be desperate to hang onto any relevance he may have by attacking Arsenal star Mesut Ozil while on the air.
Following our draw at home to Middlesbrough, the former Liverpool man decided to continue his newly-found tirade against the German star.
It looks like a clear ploy to stoke emotion and raise the ratings of his show after being sacked by talkSPORT, with Collymore calling Ozil “overrated”.
“I think he’s a world class talent but does he have the personality in games like today to puff his chest out, Maradona-style, and say ‘I’m gonna win the game’, I don’t think he does,” Collymore stated on BBC Radio 5 Live.
After being reminded by colleague Jason Mohammad that Ozil was a World Cup winner, Collymore replied: “He didn’t win the World Cup with Arsenal.”
Just what was running through his troubled mind during this segment is for one’s imagination to decide.
