Stephan Lichsteiner a huge admirer of new head coach Unai Emery…

Arsenal new boy Stephan Lichsteiner said he’s looking forward to learning under Unai Emery next season despite being vastly experienced and in the latter stages of his career, the defender told Arsenal Player.

Lichsteiner joined us from Juventus on Tuesday on a free transfer to bolster our squad in terms of experience and personnel, given our lack of depth in the right-back area.

After spending seven seasons in Turin, winning the league every year, Lichsteiner sought a new challenge in a foreign league and was clearly seen as a solid addition by the recruitment team.

Despite being one of the most cunning defenders in Europe, the Swiss international believes Emery is known for improving players and is looking forward to working with the boss.

“He’s a very good coach who’s won a lot of titles, especially the Europa League that we play in this year,” Lichsteiner said.

“He’s a coach who knows what he wants and a coach who also progresses the players, and also old players like me. You never stop learning and this is very important. I’m really positive that we will do great things.”

Lichsteiner’s arrival is understandable and a represents a good start, but work still needs to be done if we’re to be fully prepared by the time the first Premier League game comes around.
