Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard asserted that Arsenal may have lost their fear factor ahead of our trip to Middlesbrough on Monday night.

As we prepare to face another team fighting for survival in consecutive Monday’s, Gerrard believes that Boro will not feel inferior heading into the clash.

Crystal Palace certainly adopted a similar approach and we couldn’t cope with their energy levels, and the pressure is on us to produce the level of performance expected of Arsenal Football Club.

For Gerrard, however, Boro need not worry about facing the Gunners like they would some of our rivals.

“I think anyone is thinking that [it’s a great time to play Arsenal] when they come in,” Gerrard said on BT Sport.

“If Tottenham, Chelsea or Liverpool are coming to town, you think, ‘Tough game’, but with Arsenal, people fancy their chances.”

While Palace have struggled this season, they did possess players we knew would cause us problems such as Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha.

However, Boro are at the foot of the table for a reason. They haven’t won a game since December and if they secured their first three points in 2017 against us it would be a real crisis.

Check out Gerrard’s take on Arsenal in the video above.
