Stewart Robson questions Wenger’s tactical nouse…
Former Arsenal man Stewart Robson claimed that we lost the derby against Spurs due to the fact that Arsene Wenger is “tactically inept”.
Robson, who’s never held his tongue when discussing the manager, felt as though Wenger’s tactical rigidness during the game didn’t give the players a chance to compete against Spurs.
We set up with our new 3-4-3 system, a formation Mauricio Pochettino has deployed a few times at home this season, yet he sprung a tactical surprise when he returned to a back four for this encounter.
It led to us being overrun in the wide areas and for Robson, Wenger proved he isn’t up to scratch to compete with the best by failing to adapt.
“Arsene Wenger got his tactics wrong once again,” Robson bemoaned.
“He wasn’t able to change during the game and he got his team selection wrong right at the beginning.
“A woeful performance by Arsenal, and Arsene Wenger.”
In all fairness, everything Robson says about Arsenal must be taken with a pinch of salt given the history between the two parties.
The former midfielder, who only won a League Cup during his time with the club, was sacked from Arsenal TV due to his harsh opinions on the manager when he’d commentate on neutral stations.
Robson has since held a grudge, yet most of his points are hard to argue with given how often we fail in the same manner.
