Stoke City 1-4 Arsenal…
————————————

Arsenal finally ended their Stoke City hoodoo in emphatic fashion as we moved to within a point of a top-four finish in the Premier League.

We’ve only managed one win at Stoke since their promotion to the Premier League in 2008 and as we hunt down Liverpool, the time finally came for that disastrous run to end.

We stamped our authority on the game early on though we struggled to turn our possession into clear goalscoring opportunities.

However, moments before half time a lovely move freed Hector Bellerin on the right and all he needed to do was square the ball to Olivier Giroud for a simple tap-in.

The pattern of play didn’t change after the interval as we continued to apply the pressure and a sensational one-two between Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil allowed the German to calmly finish home.

Stoke pulled a goal back with an illegitimate goal as Peter Crouch pushed the ball past Petr Cech with his hand, but our boys weren’t to be discouraged.

Alexis, who’d signalled to be subbed moments before, picked up the ball and smashed it past Jack Buckland to restore our two-goal lead.

Olivier Giroud, fittingly, ended the scoring with a smart finish as substitute Aaron Ramsey worked well to find him.

We’ve certainly turned the screw on Jurgen Klopp’s men and should we pull this off, it would unquestionably top any previous surges to claim a Champions League spot in recent years.
