Hollywood actor Damian Lewis recently appeared on the popular late-night chat show with Seth Meyers and narrated a humorous story of coming home and seeing his son in an Arsenal shirt.
The Homeland star is a self-confessed Liverpool fans, though has been put in a slightly awkward predicament given that the Emirates Stadium looms large over his north London home.
And, given that he’s away from for large spells to shoot in America, Lewis clearly took his eye off the ball with his son.
It’s a tradition in England, you support your local team and his son was doing just that.
“We live so close to Arsenal, a big London team with a big tradition and a lot of romance,” he explained to a crowd not familiar with football.
“When they score on a Saturday, we’re so close that we can hear them.
“I took him to a game when he was five-years-old and I tried my hardest to cheer for Arsenal, a team I had never supported, and I just couldn’t do it,” the 46-year-old added.
“I went to America to film a season of Homeland, I returned home to see that my wife – talk about breaking rules – had bought him an Arsenal kit!
“It’s taken me five years to slowly manipulate him back – now he supports Liverpool.”
Well, Damian, that’s some serious child abuse. You’ve inflicted upon your son a lifetime of hurt.
