Theo Walcott backing Arsenal to end drought…

Former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott believes this is the season we end our 21-year wait to return to the summit of English football, Sky Sports reports.

Following back-t0-back seasons of finishing second behind Manchester City, Mikel Arteta is desperate to go one further and deliver the title this season.

The Premier League fixture list gave us our toughest start in years, travelling to Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester City in our first six games.

Arteta navigated those games professionally, picking up seven points and only dropping points against Man City after going down to 10 men.

We currently have 17 points from seven games – the exact same points tally at this point last season illustrating the consistency we’re operating it.

For Walcott, he believes the team would’ve learned from last term.

“I do believe that it could be Arsenal’s year,” Walcott said.

“I’ve said this at the start of the season – it’s going to be interesting, be tough. I think they would’ve learned a lot.

“It’s important not to mess up in the ‘lesser games’, put it that way.”

This season, Arsenal’s fixtures seem always to include a batch of tough games in succession. We’re now entering a period where we’ll face Liverpool, Newcastle United and Chelsea in consecutive games.

If we manage to navigate those games and remain undefeated, the belief among the fanbase and at the club will certainly reach new heights.
