Thierry Henry makes it clear that his relationship with Cesc Fabregas will be professional…
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has ensured fans that Cesc Fabregas will not receive preferential treatment after the midfielder signed for Monaco, ESPN reports.
Fabregas joined up with his former Gunners teammate in the south of France after seeing himself out of favour at Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri.
The former Barcelona playmaker was also struggling to hold down a first-team slot under the previous manager Antonio Conte and has subsequently sought a new challenge.
A challenge which has made Arsenal fans a little teary-eyed as the two former stars look to drag Monaco up the table and out of the relegation zone.
While their relationship has always remained intact, Henry stated that Fabregas cannot expect special treatment and he’s well aware of this following their experiences as teammates.
“Of course, Cesc Fabregas is someone I know,” Henry told reporters in France ahead of Monaco’s clash against Patrick Vieira’s Nice side.
“We talked to each other, he lives in London, I used to see him.
“But now I’m his coach. When it will be necessary to tell him or when I should have to reprimand him, I will do it simply. He knows me too, I was already doing as a player with him.”
Fabregas has always been one to take on a challenge and this may be his toughest yet alongside Henry. The former Ligue 1 champions have had a poor start to the season and need saving.
