Thomas Partey is still on course to return soon…
Thomas Partey hasn’t suffered an injury setback after it was revealed that he’s been left out of Ghana’s squad for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations and is still on course to recover soon, according to reporter Charles Watts.
Panic permeated throughout the fanbase after the Ghana FA released their squad for the tournament with their talisman missing from the list.
Ghana boss Chris Hughton addressed Partey’s omission in a press conference on Monday which seemed to imply that the 30-year-old had suffered a setback.
“This is a player that has a substantial injury,” the former Newcastle United boss told the press.
Partey suffered a thigh injury in training in October and subsequently underwent a procedure in November to expedite his rehabilitation.
Early January was always earmarked as a potential return date with the Evening Standard reporting last month that Mikel Arteta hoped to have Partey available for the FA Cup clash against Liverpool.
However, it seems as though that will no longer be the case, though Charles Watts reports Partey’s return date is ‘pending’ and there has been no delay in his recovery process.

Watts states that, according to his information, the former Atletico Madrid man is in the “final stages” of his recovery and is aiming to be back soon.
The report also claims Partey underwent the procedure to eliminate the risk of a recurring injury given that he’s had thigh problems ever since he arrived in north London.
One wonders if our next Premier League game, scheduled for January 20th, can be a realistic date for Partey to target after the squad returns from their warm-weather training camp.
