Unai Emery not worried about Aubameyang’s lack of goals this season…
Arsenal head coach Unai Emery is not worried about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal drought after the former Dortmund man missed a hat-full of chances against Chelsea last week.
Aubameyang arrived in February with a reputation as one of Europe’s most feared marksmen, with a tally of 141 goals in 213 games for the Bundesliga club.
The 29-year-old transitioned seamlessly into England too last season, fresh from grabbing over 20 goals in all competitions for Dortmund before their winter break, he joined us and bagged 11 in 13 games.
Aubameyang was cup-tied in Europe and so couldn’t play in our Europa League to the semi-final, something which probably cost us the trophy.
For Emery, though, those memories remain fresh and he’s under no doubt that as long as we create chances, Aubameyang will score.
“The first is to create chances, situations and attacking moments where the player arrive in the box and with the balance to use the small space the opposition gives us,” our head coach told reporters ahead of the visit of West Ham (via Hayters TV).
“And then, I am sure they are going to score if we create a lot of chances in the game. The first idea for us on Saturday is to create these chances and then the players’ confidence for starting to arrive in the box, to score.
“Maybe the players can not score three good chances in one match and on another day, I am sure they are going to do maybe the same chances in one match and score three.
“For that, Aubameyang is a player who, in his career, has scored a lot and he is going to do that here also.”
We desperately need to get off the mark in the Premier League in terms of our points and if we’re to do that, our record signing needs to be razor sharp.
