Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has been fined £8,000 after being charged with improper conduct following the incident at Brighton, the FA confirmed.

The Spaniard kicked a water bottle in frustration during our 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium on Boxing Day and it happened to hit a fan behind his dugout.

Emery responded immediately and doubled down on his apology at full-time and it seemed as though the fan accepted his sincere remorse.

The fourth official was aware of the incident and didn’t feel the need to include it in his match report, which should’ve been the end of the matter.

However, following a rally on social media from certain opposition fans, the FA announced it would be investigating the incident further given the precedent they set after banning Jose Mourinho for a similar incident.

A statement released by the Football Association read:

Arsenal Manager Unai Emery has been fined £8,000 after he admitted an FA improper conduct charge and accepted the standard penalty. It concerned his conduct during the game against Brighton on 26 December 2018.
