Mika Biereth is thriving in Scotland…
Arsenal youngster Mika Biereth is thriving at Motherwell after the striker netted for the sixth time this season to rescue a point against St. Johnstone.
Biereth has made 10 appearances for the Scottish side this term and has added a further two assists to his six goals, totalling eight goal involvements.
The 20-year-old was sent on loan to RKC Waalwijk last season, though his season was often disrupted by injuries with the Danish U21 international only making 12 appearances all season.
Biereth’s fortunes have certainly changed at Fir Park with the former Fulham academy star starting The ‘Well’s last four league games in the Scottish Premiership.
Biereth sustained a knee injury in August which kept him out of action for a few months, though the Danish starlet has certainly refused to let that derail him.
Arriving as an 18-year-old, Biereth is one of the players brought in by the former head of emerging talent Yousuff Sajjad who has since left the club for Dutch side Den Bosch.
Biereth will have just a year left on his deal at the end of the season and it will be interesting to see the club’s plans for him given that he’s proving to be comfortable at senior football.
When it comes to youngsters breaking into the first team from the academy, very few make that jump as smoothly as Bukayo Saka and often have interesting journeys to the top.
While some may question the level Biereth is operating at, a striker will tell you that the width of the post is the same distance anywhere and he knows how to find it.
