Football insider David Ornstein provides the latest regarding the mood inside Arsenal after sporting director Edu resigned from his post on Monday.
A club statement in the afternoon confirmed a story that broke earlier in the day by the Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel with Edu likely to join Evangelos Marinakis’s multi-club organisation.
The former Invincible will therefore oversee the likes of Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos and Rio Ave with Ornstein hinting that his new role will come with a significant increase in his wages.
While the club are in a state of “shock”, the Athletic reporter believes the Arsenal hierarchy will now undergo a thorough recruitment process to replace Edu’s role in a structure that isn’t reliant on one person.
Given Mike Arteta’s influence at the club, one wonders if he will be consulted before that role is fulfilled as it will need to be someone who gels well with the Spaniard.
Check out the video below as Ornstein sums up the mood at the Emirates to NBC Sports.
