Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth stated that sources close to Wilfried Zaha claim that the forward may not report back for pre-season training as he attempts to force through a move to Arsenal.
Various outlets reported on Monday evening that we tabled a £40million offer for the former Manchester United man, a valuation which will probably be laughed at by the Eagles.
Palace this week sold their promising right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Man Utd for a rising to £50m which further complicates our attempts to land their star man.
Given that our meagre transfer budget has been the subject of much discussion all summer, going after one of the most expensive players in the league is a baffling move.
However, according to the report above, it seems Zaha will attempt to aid our plans to land him by going rogue and refusing to turn up to training.
The 26-year-old is currently away in Egypt with the Ivory Coast as they look to clinch their third AFCON title.
Having said that, Zaha’s independent moves to force an exit can only go so far and with our opening bid landing at less than half of the asking price, we’ve got some work to do.
We may have to entice the south Londoners with a few players in exchange; names such as Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers, Mohamed Elneny and Alex Iwobi all fit the bill.
Check the video above as Dharmesh Sheth updates us on how far Zaha is willing to secure his dream move to his boyhood club.
