Arsene Wenger states that Aaron Ramsey’s exit will hurt Arsenal…

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that Aaron Ramsey’s exit will be a loss for the club as the 28-year-old prepares to join Juventus in July.

Speaking to reporters at a Laureus Sport for Good event, Wenger was asked about his former player who’s chosen to go abroad to play for one of Europe’s elite clubs.

As ever with the Gunners icon, he reserved special praise for a player whom he nurtured since the age of 17 and while Wenger believes the move is good for Ramsey personally, he claims it will be a loss for the club.

Ramsey should be considered a club legend after two winning goals in FA Cup finals and over a decade of service, though injuries have hampered his involvement in recent years.

The Welshman has been in and out of the side this term though he still remains an important member of the squad and will be crucial for us as we look to get back into the Champions League and win the Europa League.

“It will be a loss for Arsenal,” Wenger said.

“I must say it will be an interesting move for Ramsey.

“He is a player who is great going forward. His main quality is he can keep the final ball and he makes interesting runs from deep.

“You don’t find many players today who can make midfield runs off the ball. It will be an interesting addition for Juventus.”

It will be interesting to see how the club goes about replacing him with reports constantly linking us with a move for Ever Banega.

Despite his undoubted pedigree, the Argentine will be 32 next season and cannot be looked at as a long-term plan if we’re serious about getting back to challenging at the top.

Also, with the constant reports surfacing regarding the club’s financial situation, one wonders if we’ll even add a midfielder next summer or look for an internal solution.
