Report: Arsenal Handed Another Injury Blow With Star Player Set For Fortnight On The Sidelines

William Saliba joins lengthy injury list…

Arsenal defender William Saliba is set for a short period on the sidelines with a hamstring injury as scans showed signs of damage, L’Equipe reports.

Saliba picked up the injury in the final minutes of Wednesday’s North London Derby win as he embarked upon a lung-bursting run into Spurs’ half.

The Frenchman was visibly stretching his leg while looking over to the bench indicating a problem with his hamstring, though he was fine to finish the final minutes of the game.

The 23-year-old missed the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa as our stuttering Premier League form continues into 2025 with Arteta unsure about Saliba’s return.

“Yes, for sure, especially with the numbers we have in the squad and looking at our bench. Very worried,” the Spaniard said when asked if he was worried about Saliba’s injury (Arsenal Media).

According to L’Equipe, the scans have revealed a minor injury for Saliba and while he’ll miss the next three games, he’ll be in contention for the visit of Manchester City on February 1st.

Two of those fixtures Saliba will miss are in the Champions League, though we can make the final game against Girona a dead-rubber should we beat Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.

A win at the Emirates against the Croatian side will secure our passage to the last-16, allowing us to park the focus on Europe’s premier club competition until early March.

It will be interesting to see how close the likes of Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori are over the next few weeks to hand us more options to field at the back.
