Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is reportedly the subject of genuine interest from Premier League rivals with Chelsea named as a club eyeing a January move, talkSPORT reports.

Ramsdale’s future has been the cause of much speculation since Mikel Arteta demoted him to the No.2 slot with only one Premier League start since early September.

With a major international tournament next summer, Gareth Southgate has already indicated that he would like Ramsdale to play regularly to ensure his seat on the plane to Germany.

Apart from a bizarre public outburst from his father, Ramsdale hasn’t voiced his discontent at the situation and produced a solid display on his Champions League debut against PSV.

The report claims Chelsea are set to make a move for the goalkeeper following an injury picked up by Robert Sanchez during the Blues’ defeat at Everton last week.

It is claimed that the former Brighton shot-stopper will be sidelined for some time with a knee problem, leaving Mauricio Pochettino’s men light between the sticks.

Newcastle United are also said to be ‘monitoring’ Ramsdale’s situation following Nick Pope’s serious shoulder injury, though their precarious FFP position will likely hinder them.

Arteta has clarified that he wants to keep the 25-year-old, though that plan could be derailed if the club receives a significant fee.

Hypothetically, if Chelsea came in with a bid in the region of £50 million for, what is essentially our second-choice goalkeeper, I suspect the manager will have to bow to the club’s financial department and we’ll pocket that cash.
