Granit Xhaka Includes Two Ex-Arsenal Stars As He Builds ‘The Perfect Player’

Former Arsenal skipper Granit Xhaka was tasked to build his perfect player by selecting the best attributes from players he admires.

While Xhaka could’ve chosen any player in the history of the game, it’s indicative of his personality that the Swiss mainly selected players from those he’s shared a dressing room with.

When asked who he’d pick for their ‘left foot attribute’, the 31-year-old was unequivocal in his answer: “Mesut Ozil.” Ozil and Xhaka shared over four years together in the Arsenal dressing room, though the latter years were marred by the German’s exile from the squad.

After starting 10 consecutive Premier League games following Mikel Arteta’s appointment, events behind the scenes during lockdown soured the relationship and Ozil was never seen again in an Arsenal shirt.

It took another year before the World Cup winner’s contract was eventually terminated and he made the move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Xhaka had an interesting choice when asked to name the player’s strength he wishes to adopt for ‘the perfect player’, with Brazilian icon David Luiz getting the nod.

Luiz is one of the players whose reputation within the game far exceeds the opinion fans have of him, and it’s often quite amusing to witness that disparity.
