Alan Shearer Singles Out Jack Wilshere In England Rant

Alan Shearer makes some erratic points in his post-match rant…

BBC pundit Alan Shearer went on an emotional rant following England’s loss to Iceland on Monday night resulting in their most embarrassing exit of a major competition in the nation’s footballing history.

Within his dignified rant, Shearer directed some of his grievances towards Jack Wilshere which is rather odd given how little the Arsenal man featured in the competition.

According to the Newcastle man, Wilshere’s sheer inclusion in the squad was one of Roy Hodgson’s failings, especially given that the Arsenal academy graduate was actually given some game time during the tournament.

“How can he pick Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere?” Shearer told Gary Lineker.

“We had players in the squad who didn’t deserve to be there.”

The agenda-driven rhetoric conjured by the media when the squad was announced made it inevitable for Wilshere to receive criticism if England failed at Euro 2016 given the hype which surrounded his inclusion.

If Wilshere shouldn’t have gone, who should’ve replaced him? I doubt Danny Drinkwater would’ve helped England past Iceland on Monday night.
