Alexandre Lacazette and Kylian Mbappé could’ve been lining up alongside each other in the red and white of Arsenal this had Arsene Wenger had his way last summer.
According to a number of reports, we had a €100m bid turned down for the former Monaco forward in the summer, which alerted the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City to enter the fray.
At that point, it was obvious that we wouldn’t be able to compete financially, though Wenger had hoped that Mbappé would choose career development ahead of a huge financial package.
The teenage sensation chose the latter, though he may sincerely feel that staying in France and playing alongside start-studded forward will aid his progress.
Mbappé has started relatively well for PSG and is also enjoying his football for France ahead of next summer’s World Cup, where the French are deemed third favourites.
We currently have the two strikers competing for a starting berth for France in our squad, and Lacazette is doing all he can to be the main man for club and country.
The former Lyon man has started well in the league, netting five times this season and is certainly fitting into our style of play.
His relaxed demeanour has carried on during the international break, and Lacazette showed Mbappé that he’s not the only one who can pull off that crafty celebration of his.
Check out Lacazette’s moment with his compatriot in the video above, as well as a classy small-sided game between the French players.
