Jack Wilshere accepts that Arsenal must respond against Spurs…

Arsenal star Jack Wilshere revealed that it’s his intention to paint north London red next weekend as the derby awaits following our damaging defeat against Manchester City.

Speaking to ArsenalFanTV at the 89Film premiere, Wilshere accepted that we weren’t up to the required standard against Pep Guardiola side, despite acknowledging our lack of luck during the encounter.

Manchester City were handed a soft penalty and an offside goal at crucial times during the clash, and Wilshere wants to put things right in the game that matters the most.

As an Arsenal man and academy graduate, Wilshere knows what three points would mean against the first Spurs side to finish above us during Wenger’s tenure.

“First of all, we know what it means to every Arsenal fan,” Wilshere told ArsenalFanTV.

“We want to make North London red this time around. We know Tottenham have come along way in the last few years, they finished above us last year which really hurt.

“I know it’s not the ‘be all and end all’ – just finishing above Tottenham – but we want to do that. We know that if we finish above Tottenham, we’ll be there or thereabouts.”

Wilshere’s honesty is what usually separates him from your average Premier League footballer and one can only hope that he extends his deal and remains an Arsenal player for years to come.

He’s one a few players who lives and breathes this fixture and also has the quality to hurt Spurs as he continues to build up his match fitness.
