Alexandre Lacazette speaks on striking the post vs Chelsea…

Arsenal’s big summer signing Alexandre Lacazette wasn’t too bothered about his effort which struck the post against Chelsea in the Community Shield, with the Frenchman confident he’ll find the net soon.

Lacazette almost opened his Gunners account in wonderful style after he produced two classy touches which left the ball curling beyond Thibaut Courtois.

With the Chelsea goalkeeper beaten, Lacazette was visibly frustrated to see the ball strike the post and drift wide instead of crashing the back of the net.

Netting 37 times in all competitions last season, the 26-year-old is confident in his abilities to find the net and insists that he won’t lose any sleep about that chance.

“I was hoping for the ball to go in off the post,” Lacazette told reporters after the clash.

“That’s the shame. Today it didn’t go in, but in the future, it will.

“I’m not worried about it. I need to keep working, I hope for the next game it will be in.”

Lacazette’s debut proper will take place on Friday when we host Leicester City in our opening game of the Premier League season.

We’ve lost our last two opening fixtures, both at the Emirates, and failure to win this time around would see a more sombre mood return at the Emirates Stadium.
