Alexis Sanchez beginsĀ pre-season training…
Alexis Sanchez has allayed fears of a possible rebellion after he returned to pre-season training as expected on Tuesday ahead of the Community Shield clash against Chelsea on Sunday.
Alexis was previously expected to return on Sunday, but an Instagram post in which he informed the world that he was sick, which was later confirmed by Arsene Wenger.
The boss reassured reporters that Alexis’ bout was genuineĀ and that his return to training would be delayed by a few days, and that has come to pass.
Alexis has been the subject of much speculation all summer due to his apparent refusal to sign an extension to a contract which expires in less than 12 months.
Many expected the club to fold under the pressure and sell the 28-year-old this summer and prevent losing him on a free next summer, but with Manchester City the only club capable of putting together the financial package for Alexis, we’ve put our foot down.
Despite only being able to train for a few days, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Alexis in the squad for the Wembley clash against the Blues, such is his supreme fitness.
Given his record at the home of English football too, it may be ideal to bring him back for that game ahead of our opening Premier League fixture at home to Chelsea.
Check out Alexis’ return to training in the video above.
