Unai Emery apologised once again for kicking a water bottle near a fan during Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Brighton in an incident which has seen other manager’s handed substantial punishments for similar acts, Sky Sports reports.

Emery kicked the bottle in frustration which landed among the section of fans behind his dugout, and the Spaniard initially apologised at full-time.

According to the report, the referee didn’t include it in his match report and the fan accepted Emery’s apology which should mean the matter is resolved.

However, Jose Mourinho was handed a touchline ban for a similar act, while Arsene Wenger was infamously sent to the stands at Old Trafford.

It’s interesting to note that Emery didn’t kick the bottle upon Brighton’s equaliser which was the result of some calamitous defending from us.

A simple tackle from Lichsteiner which resulted in a Brighton throw seemed to tick Emery off, but he insists that he had no intention of causing harm.

“I say yesterday [Wednesday] my apologies, I kicked the bottle in frustration but not for the supporter, I kicked for me and it went near to the supporter and I said to them my apologies,” Emery said.

“There is not another communication.

“I repeat today my apologies for my individual action but I kick the bottle because it is near me, but not because it is my intention.”

The Gunners boss was asked about a potential investigation from the FA and if he felt the matter was now resolved: “I hope so, yes.”

There really are more pressing issues for the FA to target than to go after a manager for showing some emotion on the touchline.

How about they start with addressing the two, high-profile racial incidents we’ve had this season?
