Arsenal’s head of recruitment Sven Mislintat is set to leave the club after arriving just over 12 months ago amid an internal conflict between the German and head of football Raul Sanllehi, ESPN’s Raphael Honigstein reports.

The two executives were brought in by Ivan Gazidis just over 12 months ago as part of a restructuring at the club to move away from the Arsene Wenger model.

Mistlintat – nicknamed the ‘Diamond Eye’ – was brought in as head of recruitment and tasked with identifying gems before they reach a stage where they’re too expensive.

He had done similar at his former club, with Dortmund acquiring the likes of Shinji Kagawa, Christian Pulisic and Ousmane Dembele in recent years.

However, it seems the sudden departure of Ivan Gazidis has cause chaos behind the scenes with Sanllehi being granted a promotion to replace the outgoing AC Milan chief.

According to Honigstein, Mislintat and Sanllehi’s disagreement stems from our requirement policy with both men favouring different styles.

Mislintat wants to be left alone to do his job and feels as though the club should base our transfer policy around the scouting work he’s done.

However, in Sanllehi’s eyes, we must take advantage of his extensive contacts book and build our transfer plans around that.

Reports also claim that the former Barcelona chief executive is looking to bring in another director, one who’ll essentially fill the position he held during Gazidis’ reign.

If that appointment isn’t made internally with Mislintat moving further up the chain, it is fully expected that he’ll seek pastures new.
