The news came as a bit of a shock to us fans considering how actively involved he is in our current campaign, though his contract is set to expire in June.

While an extension was never mooted, one wondered if Cech would give it one last go at another club across Europe. However, it seems he’s made it his duty to go out at the top level of football.

Arguably the greatest shot-stopper this league has ever seen, Cech was praised by the man many regard as the No.1 goalkeeper in world football today.

Cech has kept the most clean sheets in Premier League history, beating David James’ existing record and raising the bar further. He has also notched the most clean sheets in a single season as Chelsea lifted the Premier League in 2004/05.

The Czech icon also held the longest consecutive run of clean sheets before Edwin Van Der Sar took overtook that achievement in 2007.

Boasting five Premier League title, five FA Cups, three League Cups, one Champions League and a Europa League, Cech has done it all.
