The German football expert feels enough hasn’t been said about Alexis Sanchez’s antics at Arsenal…

German football expert Raphael Honigstein believes that Alexis Sanchez’s dressing room antics have been underreported since his tumultuous departure in January.

The Chilean completed a shock move to Manchester United in a swap-deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan, which came off the back of many reports suggesting that the dressing room turned against the 29-year-old.

It became clear long before his actual exit that Alexis was looking for a way out, with contract negotiations hitting a brick wall midway through last season.

While Alexis was our best player last season, netting 30 goals in all competitions, but Honigstein reports that many players didn’t take kindly to his playacting in public, especially when the stats behind the scenes told a different story.

“It’s been under-reported just how badly the whole Arsenal dressing room hated Alexis Sanchez,” Honigstein said on the ‘Monday’s Totally Football’ show.

“They really felt he was just playing up for the camera. He was doing all these things like ‘Oh, I’m trying! What are the rest of you doing?!’

“Arsenal put up stats inside the dressing room after every game showing kilometres run, the passing etc… Sanchez would regularly come out with the lowest mileage – by a big distance.”

Despite the furore surrounding the loss of Alexis, we actually haven’t missed him much. While our form has dipped drastically this season, the former Barcelona man wasn’t exactly tearing up treas for us before his exodus.

Having said that, the pattern of stories leaking out about players being dressing room nuisances before such high-profile departures is becoming odd.

Robin Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Alex Song all received such headlines before leaving the club.
