Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s squad will be boosted by a few returning stars…

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was given a welcome injury boost with reports suggesting that Declan Rice’s back injury isn’t serious enough to keep sidelined for an extended period, The Guardian reports.

Rice was substituted at half-time during Sunday’s north London derby with a back injury, with Arteta confirming that the 24-year-old was to be assessed.

Arteta was already reeling from the news that Leandro Trossard was injured in training before the clash at the Emirates Stadium as the Belgian felt something in his hamstring.

However, according to the report, Trossard is also set to return to the squad in the coming days and will soon be joined by a few absentees.

Gabriel Martinelli has been on the treatment table since suffering a hamstring injury at Goodison Park eight days ago, while Thomas Partey has been nursing a thigh problem for a few weeks.

The aforementioned quartet are said to be on course to be in contention to face Manchester City in under a fortnight, though Arteta’s men have business to attend to before that in three different competitions.

Our Carabao Cup campaign begins at Brentford in midweek before we look to get back to winning ways in the league at Bournemouth. That’s followed by our next Champions League tie at Lens.

It’s certainly a good time for our ranks to be bolstered.
