Gabriel says Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was popular among the players…
Arsenal defender Gabriel reiterated that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was popular among the Gunners squad, but the Gabon star’s downfall came due to a rift with the coaching staff, he told Oh My Goal.
Weeks after being stripped of the captaincy and exiled from the first team, Aubameyang joined Barcelona on a free transfer last month after having his contract mutually terminated.
Mikel Arteta, without going into any details, claimed that he reluctantly had to enforce those punishments on Aubameyang following several disciplinary breaches.
Gabriel has echoed those sentiments and stated that the former Dortmund start was loved among the playing squad.
“I don’t want to talk about it…,” Gabriel said when asked about the Aubameyang saga.
“Aubameyang is in my heart, we all wanted him at Arsenal.
“Something happened between him and the coaching staff, the other players were not in it.

“I said goodbye to him before he left, I hope he enjoys Barcelona, he is a very nice person with a big heart and I love him very much.”
Things have gone well for both parties since they parted ways with Arsenal winning all three games since the window shut, while Aubameyang has netted four times in his last two appearances for Barcelona.
For Arteta, the burden of guiding us to the top-four weighs heavy on Alexandre Lacazette’s shoulders, with the Frenchman aided by our young stars.
