Arsenal summer signing Sead Kolasinac thanked fans for such a warm welcome after making his first appearance at the Emirates Stadium in our 5-2 win against Benfica.
The Portuguese giants returned for the Emirates Cup after taking part in 2014, and Kolasinac produced a powerful display down the left as he made the left-wing back position his own.
The former Schalke man had arrived with a reputation of his powerful surges forward, and he displayed exactly that as he laid on two assists for Theo Walcott.
With Kieran Gibbs’ exit looking likely by the day, and with Arsene Wenger viewing Nacho Monreal as more of a left centre-back, Kolasinac can enjoy a run in the team.
“I was a bit nervous before because it was my first game here at Emirates Stadium. I’m happy that we won the game and that the fans welcomed me so well,” the Bosnian international told Arsenal Player.
“We don’t all know each other so well yet and we’ll still need to get to get more used to each other but today we saw lots of good combinations, particularly when we went forward.”
Kolasinac’s versatility is certainly a positive, especially if Wenger decides to ditch the 3-4-3 system and move back to a back-four, with the raging full-back also able to defend vigilantly in such a system.
