Arsenal ‘very confident’ of signing Kylian Mbappé…

BT Sport host James Richardson dropped a bombshell in his latest podcast episode by claiming that according to his understanding, Arsenal are ‘very confident’ of landing Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappé has been the name on everyone’s lips this summer following a sensational breakthrough campaign for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 26 goals in all competitions as he led his side to the title and a Champions League semi-final.

Given that the 18-year-old was handed his berth in January, that goal return is something special for a teenager at the top level of European football.

Arsene Wenger has made no secret of our interest in Mbapppé, even revealing that he was at the youngster’s house attempting to convincing him to join us last summer.

The kid dubbed the ‘next Thierry Henry’ decided to stay at Monaco, a decision which has since seen his asking price go through the roof.

However, to our surprise, that doesn’t seem to have deterred the boss, who reportedly sanctioned a €100m offer for Mbappé earlier this month.

While the figures involving Mbappé continue to soar, Wenger’s interest refuses to wane and according to James Richardson, the boss feels we’re in with a shout.

“My understanding is Arsenal are very confident about signing Mbappé,” he said on the Football Weekly Podcast.

If we were able to pull this off, it would be the statement of all statements. Mbappé is the most in-demand player in world football and choosing us would elevate us somewhat.
