Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi are the latest players to step into the ‘UnClassic Commentary’ booth with the midfield pair giving their take on last season’s 3-1 at home to Stoke City.

Fittingly, Ozil and Iwobi scored on that day as we temporarily went to the top of the league ahead of a busy Christmas period in the Premier League.

Ozil lobbed a header over Stoke’s backup goalkeeper Lee Grant after a wonderful pass from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Iwobi stormed onto a loose ball to give us a comfortable lead.

Iwobi is the latest player to make the tough jump from our development squad to regularly challenging for a place in the first-team, and Ozil rates the Nigerian international highly.

“Nice goal,” Ozil said to the 21-year-old.

“Guys, I told you, Alex Iwobi is one of the biggest talents in the UK.”

It’s hard to argue with such a statement, although Iwobi found it tough to make appearances in the first-team towards the end of last season,

It seemed as though Wenger lost faith in his defensive capabilities during out barren spell, and Iwobi never made it back into the fold.

However, with a hectic pre-season break looming, Iwobi can to prove to Wenger that he has what it takes.
