Arsene Wenger has confirmed that we are indeed in talks with Valencia to sign Shkodran Mustafi, although a deal is not yet done and that the club is finding it difficult to sign players.

Wenger told the French press that he is prepared to spend a lot of money, but is finding it difficult to find the players which would justify such fees.

“We must spend on excellent players and they are very difficult to identify.”

Asked about Mustafi after making that statement, Wenger replied: “He is one of a number of players we are looking at. Negotiations are ongoing.”

The boss seemed relaxed when speaking in his mother tongue, a complete contrast to the hostility with which he met a number of the British press’ questions.
