Arsene Wenger Coy On England Rumours: “I Don’t Know What I’ll Do”

By The Editor
on 3rd July 2016

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger refused to rule out a potential deal which would see him replace Roy Hodgson as the new England manager.

The boss has emerged as a favourite for the job since England’s humiliation against Iceland and it’s quite easy to see why the Frenchman is an attractive proposition for the FA.

Having managed in England for 20 years, Wenger has brought so much to the English game and if there was a national job that could entice him other than his natural home of France, it’s the hot-seat at Wembley.

“I have a contract until 2017 with Arsenal and I have always respected my contracts, but I don’t know what I’ll do after,” Wenger said on beIN Sports’ L’EURO show.

After former Manchester United man Louis Saha accused the boss of being “diplomatic”, Wenger elaborated.

“But it’s a good challenge [to manage England] for any coach. The players are young, they have quality players. They can only do better.”

While Wenger often speaks in riddles, his words should be taken at face value given his consistency over the years.

Check out the boss’ response to the England rumours in the clip above.
